Australian advertising agency launches paid internship for over-55s

Always thought you had something to bring to the advertising world but felt the ship had sailed now you were in mid-life?

Think again. That dream could still become a reality at Thinkerbell, an Australian agency with offices in Sydney and Melbourne.

Applications are open for its Thrive@55 program, an eight-week paid internship for anyone over the age of 55.

“We’re doing this because our older generation are massively underrepresented in the advertising industry, and have a lifetime of experience to bring,” says Thinkerbell.

“So, we’re looking for spritely people to work their magic in creative, account management, office management, strategy, finance, design, media, photography, illustration – you name it.”

The agency is interested in people who could work across creative, account management, office management, finance, media, digital services, illustration, strategy, photography, and more.

The streamlined application process for the internship asks for over-55s to explain what they can bring to Thinkerbell, what Thinkerbell can bring to them, their life story in 25-words or less, and the weirdest thing about them.

“You could be a retired hotel concierge that’s interested in running our front of house, a detective who wants to do some insights work, or a newspaper cartoonist who’s looking for the next creative challenge,” says Emma O’Leary, from Thinkerbell’s culture, operations, and people team

“We don’t mind where your experience comes from, as long as you think you have something to give to our industry.”

Applications close on October 20.
