Last month, while I was up in the Sunshine Coast catching up with family and enjoying the laid back vibe, lack of traffic, beaches, great fresh food, swanning around in my floaty dresses (how good are floaty dresses) taking a break from reality (five days was not long enough!), I got a call from Bec Pullar, the owner of Adrift Clothing.
The first thing that struck me about Bec was her passion for her local brand, her drive, her energy and most importantly the fact that Bec is midlife, running her own company and is an avid supporter of supplying and designing clothes for every body. Not just the young, 5 foot 8, size 8 model, but for everyone, from 5ft 3 with hips (me) to the beautiful curvaceous women who love fashion.
I absolutely love midlife women who empower other women by helping them embrace their bodies, and Bec, the director of Adrift does this in spades. Her Australian fashion label Adrift was created with everyday women in mind, with Bec hoping to inspire women to feel confident in their own skin by wearing beautiful, high-quality and flattering clothing.
So, when Bec asked me if I would like to come on board and pic out peices I love, it was a no-brainer. Here was a women who was supporting other women, and was keen to get midlifers wearing and showcasing her brand, you bet I jumped on board and said yes.
Adrift’s director is a mum-of-four and former lawyer. After leaving her career in law, Bec discovered her passion for clothing and noticed that there was a lack of inclusive Australian labels that all women could wear and love, no matter what size or shape they are! Thus, Adrift was born. Bec started Adrift back in 2012, with just one small store in Brisbane. Since then, the brand has grown into a label that women across Australia know and love.
Designed with love in Australia, and manufactured ethically in Bali and India, Adrift’s mission is to empower all women to love and appreciate the bodies they have through wearing beautiful and stylish clothing. Whether you love classic and timeless style, or love experimenting with print and colour, Adrift has something for everyone.
Adrift is for every woman, and I can’t wait to show you pieces that I have hand picked. If there is one thing I love, it’s supporting other women, and especially supporting local, and I love fashion!
Watch this space – this sometimes hormonal but always proud midlifer will be wearing a few pieces each month and can’t wait to show you how I style them. I love that Bec supports other midlifers, and I’d love everyone to support her brand Adrift.
