Slipping into summer with the must-have skirt

must have skirt

I remember this style skirt the first time around.

I wore it to death and probably not in a good way. Oh, the confidence of youth when you think you can stroll around in anything, no matter how it looked. Sends shivers up my spine!

However, I now think with a little more polish and restraint, I can pull off the slip skirt once again – just a little more refrained than the first time. I plan to wear it with sneakers and a tee in spring with a denim jacket if needed. Keep it casual for day. For night I’ll pair it with heels and a shirt or dressy singlet top – depending on the weather.

For summer I am going to wear with simple slides and a singlet. Easy, breezy summer wear. The great thing is this skirt can make you looked polish, while still casual. It’s great for those lunches or catch-up when you just can’t be bothered going all out, but still want to look put together.

Casual but super chic and polished.

I know many people say ‘if you remember it the first time, don’t wear it a second’. Well, I say bugger that! If you feel good in it, wear it. Age is just a number, it’s not some old-fashioned book of rules you need to follow – how boring.

The best thing about these skirts is most high street stores are selling them, which also means you don’t need to spend a fortune on them.

Casual vibe paired with sneakers – a personal fav.

Top tips

If you are worried about the fabric being a little too unforgiving (let’s face it, we all have lumps and bumps), I suggest a good slip or underneath, great underwear, or choosing a fabric that is slightly thicker.

Dress up or down, it’s a go to for spring and summer (and in fact, for winter as well – you can add tights, boots and a chunky knit). For easy summer wear pair with slides.

Make sure the fit is perfect for your shape. If it means going a size larger and getting a tailer to adjust the waist, so you get the perfect fit around your thighs, just do it. It won’t cost much but will mean it looks perfect and you will get more wear out of it.

A lot of the stores are doing elastic waists – these are super comfy, easy to wear and great for summer.

Fit is key.

I have seen this style on both slim and voluptuous women, young and old, short and tall – all looked incredible! Wear it with confidence.
