Why I’m loving midi skirts in midlife

I am very lucky to work alongside Adrift Clothing, a local Brisbane brand that I am very passionate about. A brand that has strong ethics, supports sustainability and more importantly, and I know you will all love this, Adrift is run and owned by Bec Pullar, a fabulous midlife ex-lawyer.

There are so many reasons why I love this brand, the quality is great, the price point is fantastic, and Adrift is a fully size-inclusive brand.

The Aaliyah Frill Skirt in green gingham

Each month I’ll be hand-picking my selection and bringing it to you, styled my way. This last month I have been obsessed with skirts. I can’t tell you how much I love a midi skirt, an elasticated but extremely flattering waist, gorgeous fabrics and most of all the most wearable skirts I’ve had the pleasure of adding to my wardrobe. These skirts skim over the hips, butt and thighs and are extremely flattering (they hide my hormonal bloat and my lumps and bumps). I’m obsessed. They are possibly the most flattering style I’ve worn.

My first pick was the Aaliyah Frill Skirt in Green Gingham. I was hooked at first sight. The colour is stunning and so fresh. I choose to team this with a crisp white shirt and nude heels. I’m in a size small and would suggest it’s true to size. The waist has lots of stretch so you could go down if you needed – it has room to move. I’d also pair this with sneakers and a tee, and also slides and a tank/singlet.

The Aaliyah Frill Skirt in Rose (with matching Maeve Button Top rose)

My second pick was the beautiful Aaliyah Frill Skirt in Rose. Everyone that knows me knows I love pink, and florals and this skirt is perfection. It slides over hips and thighs and is super feminine and extremely flattering. I wore mine back with the matching Maeve Button Top in Rose. I love this look. It looks like a dress, but I have the versatility of wearing both separately. You can dress this look up or down. I am in a small in both.

My third pick was the stunning Fable Skirt in Amber Stripes. This skirt has pockets (need I say more!), its maxi length, it’s striking, it’s so easily dressed up or down and you’ll wear this look all year long. I’m in a small but could have gone to an XS. I chose to pair this with a simple white shirt (can’t you tell I’m loving this look).

All three skirts are stunning. The quality is fabulous, the fabric beautiful and they are all pieces I will have in my wardrobe for years to come. Check out these gorgeous skirts here Skirts – Adrift Clothing

Top Tips

Pair with heels for a dressy look or add slides or sneakers for a much more relaxed looked. These skirts are extremely versatile and can be worn many ways.

True to size (but you do have room to move in these skirts).

This style is flattering on every shape. The elastic waist means you can wear the skirt wherever you prefer. I personally wear mine higher on the waist (as I find it more flattering on my shape).

I am 5ft 3, and the length is slightly longer on me (so if you are taller this skirt will be a great midi length on you). I love the length on me.

These three skirts are great all year skirts. You can wear boots with them, a chunky knit and blazer for the cooler months, or slides and a singlet for the warmer months.

Most importantly, wear them your way, enjoy and have fun with fashion.
